LIVE LOGICALLY

Before we take any action, we should pass the decision behind the action through the sieve of appropriateness. There should a meaningful basis, a measuring thought that decides whether or not an action is in alignment with how it should be. Even if it requires us to experiment to decide the correct way to go, we should take up the experimentation. This is what distinguishes a mature man from an immature one – the presence of a constant guiding light.

Have we established these guiding thought-processes in the important areas of life? How many of us have questioned the food we eat, the time and frequency of eating and the size of the portions we take in every meal?  How many of us have questioned whether or not one should get married and why? How many of us have questioned question whether or not one should have kids and why? Most of us are too busy just drifting through life like flotsam in sea, not wanting to take the trouble to think these things through. The process of applying the intellect before every decision is a rigorous process but an important one. If we of all species, do not make our decisions in the correct mature context, what use is human birth for? The dignity of human being lies in his rationality, his ability to operate by reason and that’s what distinguishes him from the other species.

The habit of having a rational basis is important, not its infallibility. As long as you have this habit of passing more and more of your decisions and actions through the screen of wisdom and appropriateness, the quality of your life experience will always improve even if some of your decisions and actions end up being wrong. Most of the considered decisions and subsequent actions will be emancipated of any error.

Reason is the supreme guiding light. Exercising reason is the ultimate liberator. Neglecting it makes for stupid outcomes, friction in relationships, money mistakes, rollbacks in execution and much more. Change course. Hail logic! Left brain is not as bad as it is often made out to be.
